Rising Star Pro-Am Homebrew Competition
HOMEBREWERS, YOU ARE NOW CALLED ON TO START WORKING ON YOUR BEST RECIPE!
We are excited to announce the latest pro-am homebrew competition hosted by Device Brewing. The Rising Star Pro-Am Competition winner will get to brew their beer with the Device Brewing team on our commercial brewhouse in Sacramento. The deadline window for your entries to arrive at our brewery is between April 23rd to May 8th, 2021. The Competition will be limited to the first 150 registered entries received.
PLEASE READ RULES AND GUIDELINES COMPLETELY and feel free to reach out with questions to pgcsik@gmail.com!
During our first year in business, we hosted a homebrew competition. Some really outstanding beers were submitted, and in the end, a Belgian Golden Strong Ale was the winner. That beer was brewed at Device with the winner, Phil Csik, and became Blonde Ambition, which was a popular seasonal offering in our taproom for years.
The winning homebrewer will have the opportunity to help us brew their winning beer at Device Brewing. It will be available at all three Device Brewing locations. We are also planning to enter the Pro-Am category at one of the most prestigious beer competitions in the country – the Great American Beer Festival (GABF).
The Rising Star Pro-Am Homebrew Competition is a Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) sanctioned homebrew competition. All entries are blind tasted and scored against the BJCP style guidelines. Entries should reflect an American, English, or German style. Sour beers, ciders, and meads will not be accepted. Experienced BJCP judges will score entries based on 2015 BJCP style guidelines: The winning entry will be chosen from the highest-scoring entries based on drinkability and marketability.
It takes time, effort, skill and commitment to brew beer and send it out for a contest like this, and we’d like to thank everyone who shares their brews with us. This contest pays tribute to how Ken started as a homebrewer back in San Diego and the homebrewing community close to our heart. Homebrewers throughout the nation have made the transition to pro brewers and have dramatically advanced the craft in so many ways! Good luck to all you "Rising Stars"!
